How we make our handcrafted shampoo

So, for those of you who want more information on how we make our shampoo, read on!

Our USDA Organic Dog Shampoo starts with our all natural organic base.

Organic Coconut oil (Cocos nucifera), Organic Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii), Organic Olive Oil (Olea europaea), Organic Sunflower Oil (Helianthus annuus) and Organic Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis) are mixed with decolorized Organic Aloe Juice (Aloe barbadensis) and alkaline (potassium hydroxide) under heat in large kettles.

This results in saponified oils of coconut (Potassium cocoate), shea butter (Potassium Shea Butterate), olive (Potassium olivate), sunflower (Potassium sunflowerate), jojoba (Potassium jojobate) and vegetable glycerine. Some of the organic aloe juice evaporates off and the glycerine is mixed back in while the potassium hydroxide used to saponify the fats in the oils is no longer detectable (yes - we check).

It is cooled and pumped into drums.

We attach a mixer to the drum and add in the Organic Rosemary Extract (Rosmarinus officinalis) to give our product a 3 year shelf life without using toxic preservatives!

This is the base of all of our USDA Organic Dog Shampoo formulations.

For formulations that contain essential oils or other oils, we pour them in by hand while mixing.
