What is oatmeal?
Sometimes called the common oat, our oat milk is from a grain grown for its seed.
Oatmeal Actions and Benefits
Oat milk is a concentrated source of silica (silicon dioxide), which among dozens of other functions is key to the development of healthy skin and coat.
Oats are also an emollient and an excellent skin cleanser where it can soothe itchy skin and help to restore itchy skin.
How does oatmeal work?
Oat has a number of polysaccharides and phenolic compounds (avenanthramides).
These compounds are known to have anti-inflammatory, anti-irritant, and moisturizing characteristics. What this means for your dog is that oat can soothe, smooth, and nourish their skin and coat.
How do we use oatmeal?
While oat is recommended for all skin types, it is especially good for sensitive and dry/flaky skin. Oat is also recommended for dry or damaged skin/fur as it helps to provide moisture and improves conditioning and manageability of hair making it appear smooth. We use it in our oatmeal, lavender and aloe organic dog shampoo.
Is oatmeal safe?
Oatmeal is safe and non-toxic.
We do however recommend, if your dog is allergic to oatmeal, to use one of our non-oat organic dog shampoo formulations.
Is Oatmeal Gluten Free?
Yes. Oatmeal contains proteins called avenins, not glutens.
